Preamble: The Order is established with a firm hope in the future for the advancement of our common humanity in wisdom, virtue and happiness; by uniting, sustaining and protecting the brethren, the widow and the orphan; as a home for the stranger, a refuge for the oppressed and a resting place for the weary.
1. It is founded on progressive nature of man; and looks forward to the time when love and not fear shall rule the human breast when all men shall hail their fellow men as brethren however widely they may be separated by country, manners or opinion.
2. Seeking to banish every vice, the Order encourages virtue to flourish as the green bay tree in the sanctuary of Friendship, Love and Truth.
3. It is hoped that its work will so endure that peace; harmony, prosperity and abundant success may reward the brethren individually and collectively.
4. We believe that the Order's presence anywhere will bless mankind by leading them through Friendship to Love and uniting all in the bonds of truth.
5. Its symbolism is established and its ceremonies are celebrated to teach its principles. This, as indicated by the humblest of its officers, proclaimed by our Lodge furniture, the colour of our Regalia and Robes, symbolizes its high and noble purposes.
6. Power without responsibility, the Order will not permit; office without ability and integrity it does not tolerate.
7. For initiation into the Order, the character of a candidate is scrutinized for suitability, a candidate who would not bear so strict a test is at once rejected.
8. No Lodge can neglect the solemn duty of testing the character of its candidates without sinking into degradation and endangering its own existence.
9. At initiation every candidate is called upon to sacrifice all prejudices and animosities upon the sacred altar to assume the white robe of Truth and extend the hand of Friendship in the bonds of Love.
Conclusion: Let us be reminded of the Principles, Aims and Objects of the Order, that we may be enabled to perpetuate these blessings and extend the domain and influence of Oddfellowship.
